About
Bridget Heavey began her yoga journey in 2005 when she joined a yoga studio near her University in Hamden, Connecticut. At the time, she was looking for a means to alleviate the back and neck pain she was experiencing from her scoliosis. She was drawn to yoga for it’s physical benefits and immediately began to see how powerful this practice truly is. From day one, she fell in love with yoga and all it had to offer. Physically, she noticed an increase in her flexibility and in her strength. Off the mat, her posture improved. Her pain and discomfort diminished. “Yoga is my prescription to myself, my daily dose. My scoliosis doesn’t let me forget this”.

Yoga taught her body awareness. But most of all, yoga brought a shift mentally and emotionally. She felt a sense of calm.”It’s amazing how much chatter happens in the mind. Becoming aware of this is an important step. Learning to let it go is profound”.
It was in 2010 when Bridget made the decision to deepen her practice. Working for a Big 4 accounting firm in NYC, Bridget experienced first hand what working long hours can do to one’s body and mind. Her passion and devotion to yoga led her to Devotion Yoga’s teacher training program in Hoboken, NJ. She completed the 200-hour Bright Spirit teacher training program, studying with Jillian Pransky, Carrie Parker-Gastelu, Tam Terry and Liza Bertini. Bridget has continued her studies with these amazing teachers; studying Restorative Yoga Therapeutics with Jillian Pransky and Prenatal Yoga with Carrie Parker-Gastelu. It wasn’t long before Bridget left the corporate world to follow her passion and teach yoga full time. “I once saw a framed quote that said, “Sometimes the only mode of transportation is a giant leap of faith.” I took that leap and never looked back. Yoga has had a profound impact on my life; physically, mentally and emotionally. I felt a deep connection to help others experience the benefits of yoga as I have”.
